About
NIKYOTO is the artistic pseudonym of Nikol Andonova. It stands for Nicole in Kyoto and was born after a visit to the famous Japanese city, which turned out to be an emotional and creative turning point for the artist. Nicole or NIKYOTO doesn't remember ever not being involved in art in one form or another. However, her professional path began in 2015, when she created her first digital surrealist portrait paintings, connecting reality with imaginary, dream worlds.
Her imagination and hands give birth to the so-called flowing paintings – works in which the movement seems to have not stopped and at every moment turns the frame into a starting point for a new change.
Her works are not just displayed—they are experienced. Using a groundbreaking technique, she hand-models resin to create stunning 3D effects that add depth and dynamic quality to her pieces. By playing with light and the inherent transparency of her materials, she introduces an extraordinary sense of movement and materiality, drawing viewers into a constantly shifting dialogue with the artwork.
Her compositions are characterized by the absence of sharp edges, replaced by fluid forms and harmonious curves that evoke tranquility and contemplation. The pigments and metals she uses give her works an abstract yet deeply resonant quality, reflecting her philosophy of capturing the essence of objects rather than their literal representations. Each piece tells a multi-layered story, inviting exploration from various angles and under different lighting conditions, making every encounter with her art unique.
"Outside the frame" are also the jewellery and fashion that NIKYOTO creates. They also bear her unconventional view of matter as an expression of the desire for eternal and unceasing movement. A beautiful escape from labels, frames, and limitations.
